The Chinese Market : Tastes & Preferences
The Artprice report goes also pinpoints 10 best selling artworks from the Chinese market. These include Su Shi’s Wood and Rock; Ai Xuan’s Aspirant; Pan Tianshou’s View from the Peak and Chen Yifei’s Beauties on Promenade. The list of top selling artists includes Pan Tianshou, Lu Yanshao and Fu Baoshi at ranks 1, 2 and 3 respectively. Abstractionist Wu Dayu is at rank 7, while Hao Liang just makes it at 8.
Technology is the Future
Several references in different capacities have been made to the future of the art world in the technological age. 2018 saw the sale of the first AI generated work at auction. Further, Artron also proposed its use of Blockchain technology in art transactions as the future of preventing art forgeries. Among other things, blockchain enables the generation of an encrypted certificate of authenticity for each work, thus hampering any attempts at forgery.
